publishers 39articles 42first reported 25 Oct, 10:00 UTCdeveloping since 25 Oct · 8 editions

Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander were each sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in federal prison after being convicted of sex trafficking and other charges involving women lured through promises of luxury and access to exclusive parties and homes.

U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni imposed the sentences in New York, telling the brothers, “Your conduct was monstrous.” She also imposed 20-year terms for additional crimes, but ordered those sentences to run concurrently with the 30-year terms.

The brothers were convicted in March following a five-week trial. Prosecutors said they used their wealth and social status to lure women before drugging and sexually assaulting them. Tal and Oren Alexander had been prominent luxury real-estate brokers; Alon was not a broker.

At least 11 accusers addressed the court before sentencing, describing lasting psychological trauma from the assaults. Several asked Caproni to impose life sentences. Prosecutors also sought the maximum punishment, while defense lawyers requested 15-year terms and cited the effects of imprisonment on the brothers’ families.

All three men continued to maintain their innocence when they addressed the court. Caproni criticized their refusal to acknowledge their crimes, questioning how they could claim rehabilitation without accepting responsibility.
