The Golden State Valkyries won their first WNBA championship Saturday, defeating the Atlanta Dream 68-63 in the league’s first Finals Game 7.

Gabby Williams scored 30 points for Golden State, including a WNBA Finals-record 28 in the second half, according to ABC News Australia. She also recorded four blocks and three steals. Veronica Burton added 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

Jordin Canada led Atlanta with 18 points, five assists and four rebounds. Angel Reese finished with eight points on 3-of-7 shooting, while Australian rookie Izzy Borlase scored eight points off the bench in 14 minutes.

Golden State had taken a 3-2 series lead with a 64-55 victory in Game 5, holding Atlanta to 29% shooting and a season-low point total. The Dream then won Game 6 by 80-69 to force the deciding game.

The championship came in the Valkyries’ second season. Golden State went 32-12 during the regular season before defeating the Dallas Wings and Las Vegas Aces on its way to the Finals. The Dream reached the series after sweeping the Washington Mystics and New York Liberty, but remained winless across four Finals appearances.
