Diljit Dosanjh opened the India leg of his Aura World Tour at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, performing before a crowd reported by The Indian Express at nearly 70,000.
Heavy rain continued into the evening, but thousands gathered at the venue, including fans who had travelled from across India and abroad. With no general parking available, many used the Delhi Metro, which extended service on most lines until midnight. Traffic restrictions and diversions were imposed around the stadium.
The concert went ahead after uncertainty over police clearance. Reports a day earlier said permission had initially been withheld because of security concerns, but Delhi Police approved the event after organisers agreed to additional safety, crowd-management and traffic measures. Security was strengthened following a threatening email, The Indian Express reported. During the show, Dosanjh thanked Delhi Police, the Central Reserve Police Force and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
Dosanjh performed songs including “Morni,” “G.O.A.T.,” “Ikk Kudi,” “Naina” and “Case,” accompanied by choreography, pyrotechnics and drone displays. He invited audience members and a CRPF officer onstage and told the crowd that some people had tried to prevent the concert from taking place.
The Delhi performance had been moved from November 1 to avoid coinciding with commemorations of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence. Dosanjh’s scheduled Indian stops include Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
