Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordered the country’s armed forces to respond immediately and without geographic limits to any new threat, according to statements reported by Iranian state media and several regional outlets.
The directives followed a meeting with senior military commanders, including armed forces chief of staff Ali Abdollahi, army chief Amir Hatami and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Ahmad Vahidi. Khamenei called for “intelligent combat readiness” aimed at maximum deterrence and said Iran would determine the timing and conditions for ending any renewed military or terrorist attack.
Khamenei also instructed commanders to update Iran’s target list to include tangible and intangible US and Israeli assets within reach of Iranian forces. He called for stronger military information systems, expanded domestic defense capabilities and the adoption of new technologies in Iran’s security and military infrastructure.
The IRGC separately said it was closely monitoring US movements in the region. The statements came amid diplomatic efforts to prevent renewed fighting. Dawn reported that a Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday for talks with Iranian officials after Iran reportedly received a letter from US Vice President JD Vance. Iranian media said Tehran had not yet responded to the letter.
