President Donald Trump said he will soon decide whether to pursue an agreement with Iran or resume major military action, while new polling shows broad public support for ending the conflict ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

“Do I finish it off, which would be very easy to do, or do I make a deal? It’s getting to be decision time,” Trump said in a Fox News interview Sunday, according to CNBC. He identified Pickaxe Mountain, a deeply buried site linked to Iran’s nuclear program, as a possible target. CNN reported that the United States has plans for major strikes if Trump authorizes them.

Qatari mediators visited Tehran on Sunday, Reuters reported. Iranian officials have said the country is preparing a military response to any new U.S. attack. The last confirmed U.S. strikes on Iran occurred Sept. 1, according to CNBC.

Trump has also said the war will end “very soon” and “as soon as I want it to end,” The Guardian reported. Vice President JD Vance said Trump would not allow the conflict to become a “forever war.”

An AP-NORC poll found about seven in 10 voters believe the government should prioritize ending the war, while roughly eight in 10 identified the economy or cost of living as a leading election issue. A September Fox News poll found six in 10 Americans opposed military action against Iran and more than 70% did not believe Trump had a plan to end the conflict.
