Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Monday.
The performance will place Jay-Z onstage at an event his entertainment company has helped produce since partnering with the NFL in 2019. Roc Nation, which advises the league on entertainment presentations and halftime performers, will executive produce the show. Hamish Hamilton will direct.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league reached its agreement with Roc Nation, he asked Jay-Z to perform “whenever the moment felt right to him.” Jay-Z described the booking as the continuation of a journey that began with his 1996 debut album, *Reasonable Doubt*.
The announcement follows a series of concerts celebrating the album’s 30th anniversary, including performances at SoFi Stadium. Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, has won 25 Grammy Awards and is known for albums including *The Blueprint* and *The Black Album*, as well as songs such as “99 Problems,” “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” and “Empire State of Mind.”
The rapper and entrepreneur founded Roc Nation in 2008. His selection marks the first time he will headline the Super Bowl halftime show after years of working with the NFL on its production and artist bookings.
