Israeli attacks killed at least seven Palestinians across Gaza on Saturday, the first anniversary of a US-backed ceasefire, according to Palestinian rescue and medical officials. Al Jazeera reported an eighth death and said the victims included an eight-year-old girl killed by a drone in western Gaza City.
Gaza’s Hamas-run civil defence said strikes killed people in a car, a displacement tent and a residential building in Gaza City, while another person was killed southeast of Deir al-Balah. The Israeli military said three of those targeted were operatives in militant organisations and that it was checking reports concerning four other deaths.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,481 Palestinians and injured 5,254 since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025. The Israeli military has reported five soldiers and one civilian contractor killed during the same period. Large-scale bombardment eased and humanitarian deliveries increased after the agreement, but Israeli strikes have continued; Israel says it targets Hamas operatives and accuses the group of ceasefire violations.
A report by Physicians for Human Rights Israel said Gaza still has no fully functioning hospital or MRI scanner. The group said intensive-care capacity had risen by only one bed over the past year, while Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that 1,570 patients, including 264 children, died awaiting medical evacuation. The ceasefire included exchanges of Palestinian detainees and the remaining Israeli hostages, but broader reconstruction and recovery efforts have stalled.
