Entry and exit gates at six central Delhi Metro stations were closed on Monday as opposition parties planned a march to the Supreme Court over allegations of electoral irregularities.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said Patel Chowk, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Barakhamba Road stations would remain closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Interchange services remained available at the affected stations. The DMRC said security agencies would review the situation and issue updates as needed.

Reuters reported that authorities also imposed traffic restrictions as the opposition marched against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge were seeking a meeting with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant to raise allegations described by the opposition as “vote chori,” or vote theft. The Hindu, citing unidentified sources, reported that the chief justice declined to meet Gandhi because similar matters are pending before the Supreme Court.

The limited closures followed broader proposed restrictions surrounding an earlier protest against the election chief. The Supreme Court had directed authorities to avoid a complete shutdown of metro and railway services and to regulate operations in a way that minimized disruption to the public.
