Musk becomes largest known donor of 2026 midterm cycle with $366 million
Elon Musk has become the largest known donor of the 2026 U.S. midterm election cycle, directing about $366 million to political organizations, including those supporting Republican candidates and causes.
More than $276 million was donated since July, according to figures first reported by The New York Times and confirmed to CNBC by a spokesperson for Musk’s America PAC. The new figures were disclosed ahead of campaign-finance filings due Thursday.
The largest donation was $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, the principal super PAC supporting Republican Senate candidates. Musk also gave more than $76 million to America PAC, which he founded during the 2024 election and which has built a voter-turnout operation in competitive House and Senate races.
