Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning Wednesday as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2, taking a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series.

Milwaukee had led from the opening pitch, which Jackson Chourio drove over the fence. The Dodgers moved ahead 2-1 in the sixth when Will Smith hit a two-run double after reliever Abner Uribe issued three walks.

The Brewers responded in the seventh. Andrew Vaughn drew a leadoff walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Christian Yelich before Bauers completed an 11-pitch at-bat with a two-run homer off Blake Snell. Mitchell followed with another homer, ending Snell’s outing. The Dodgers starter allowed four runs on four hits, struck out nine and walked two over six-plus innings.

Milwaukee added a run in the eighth when Brice Turang scored on a wild pitch, then made it 6-2 on Joey Ortiz’s RBI single in the ninth. Brewers relievers kept Los Angeles scoreless after Smith’s double.

Shohei Ohtani, moved to sixth in the Dodgers’ lineup amid an extended offensive slump and reported injury concerns, went 1-for-2 with a walk. Los Angeles has not homered through the first three games of the series.

The Brewers, who won the opening two games 2-1 and 7-4, can complete the sweep Thursday at Dodger Stadium and advance to their first World Series since 1982.
