Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped without gunshot wounds after attackers opened fire on his car in Mumbai’s Juhu district on Sunday evening, police said. Three suspects were arrested the next morning aboard a train in Kota, Rajasthan, and transferred to Mumbai police custody.
The 36-year-old actor was leaving after playing football when the attack occurred near Pushpa Narsee Park. Video published by news outlets appeared to show two men firing at close range as his car moved past a crowd. The Indian Express reported that five rounds were fired and that a third suspect drove the motorcycle used in the attack.
Shroff sustained minor abrasions and was discharged from hospital. His driver, Ibrahim Firdous, suffered a bullet injury to his left hand and a fractured metacarpal. Bystander Umesh Kumar Chauhan, who had been filming Shroff, was also struck and remained stable under observation with a liver injury, The Indian Express reported.
Police identified the arrested men as Phool Singh, 18, Hrithik Mahto, 22, and Rehan Rahisuddin, 18. Investigators said the suspects named another man, Anil Pandit, during questioning. Claims circulated linking the attack to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but police had not confirmed responsibility or conclusively established a motive.
Mumbai police assigned the case to the Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell and increased security around Shroff and the homes of other Bollywood figures, including Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
