Mumbai police are investigating an October 18 shooting targeting actor Tiger Shroff’s car near a football ground in Juhu. Shroff escaped serious injury, while his driver, Firdaus, was wounded in the left hand and bystander Umesh Chauhan was shot in the chest region.
Doctors at KEM Hospital monitored Chauhan for two days before removing a 1.5-centimetre bullet in a two-hour operation. The bullet had injured tissue near his liver, but doctors said he was stable and had no continuing internal bleeding that required immediate surgery. A video later shared by Shroff’s team showed small marks on his arm described as pellet injuries.
Ten people had been arrested by October 22, according to The Indian Express. Three alleged attackers were detained at Kota railway station in Rajasthan and remanded to Mumbai police custody until October 31. A lawyer for one accused, Phool Singh, said documents showed he was a minor and alleged that police failed to follow juvenile justice and arrest procedures.
Delhi Police also arrested Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita for allegedly procuring and transporting a pistol and ammunition from Amritsar to Mumbai. Investigators allege that U.S.-based suspect Anil Pandit coordinated preparations and the shooters’ escape through an encrypted messaging application. Police suspect the operation involved weeks of surveillance of Shroff’s movements.
The weapons used in the attack remained missing, and police told a court that two mobile phones had allegedly been destroyed. A purported online message claimed responsibility and linked the attack to Shroff’s work with Salman Khan, but authorities had not publicly verified that claim.
