Israeli strikes and gunfire killed at least four Palestinians in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to Palestinian health officials.
Medics said a strike on a car in Gaza City killed one person, while another strike killed a man riding a bicycle in Khan Younis. A third person was killed near the Nuseirat refugee camp, and Israeli gunfire killed a female near the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Reports differed on whether the victim near Jabalia was a woman or a 17-year-old girl.
The Israeli military said it had targeted Hamas militants in Gaza City, Khan Younis and Nuseirat. It said it was not aware of the reported shooting near Jabalia.
The attacks occurred during a ceasefire brokered by the United States a year earlier. Israel says Hamas has been rearming and launching attacks in violation of the agreement; Hamas denies those allegations and accuses Israel of undermining the deal. Negotiators have made little progress on provisions calling for Hamas to disarm, Israeli forces to withdraw and Gaza to be reconstructed.
Gaza health officials say about 1,500 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire began. Israel says militants in Gaza have killed four of its soldiers during the same period.
