Two U.S. Air Force pilots safely ejected from a training aircraft near Seguin, Texas, on Thursday after receiving indications that its landing gear was unsafe, Joint Base San Antonio said.
The pilots were flying a T-6A Texan II assigned to the 12th Flying Training Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph. After consulting experts about the landing gear warning, they were advised to eject and carried out what officials described as a “controlled bailout” at about 5:51 p.m. local time.
Both pilots were evaluated by local medical personnel. Officials did not immediately disclose their conditions.
The T-6A is a single-engine, two-seat aircraft used for primary training of U.S. Air Force and Navy pilots. Seguin is about 35 miles east of San Antonio.
