Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi will proceed after police granted permission on Friday, reversing a decision to withhold clearance a day earlier.
Delhi Police had cited specific threat-related inputs, festive-season security commitments and other law-and-order concerns. BookMyShow Live, the concert’s ticketing partner, said reports that the event had been cancelled were inaccurate because permission had only been temporarily withheld.
Following talks with police, organisers submitted a revised plan covering security, traffic and crowd management and pledged to comply with the authorities’ requirements. The Indian Express reported that police sought between 1,500 and 2,000 private security personnel, compared with about 400 initially proposed. Officials also recommended help kiosks, designated pedestrian routes and additional nearby parking, while planning a pedestrian-only, no-car zone extending 500 to 700 metres around the stadium.
Dosanjh confirmed in an Instagram Live session that the show would go ahead, telling viewers, “See you in Delhi on the 30th.” The concert is part of his Aura India Tour, which also includes performances in several other Indian cities.
Separately, Mumbai authorities increased security after an email threatened several locations, including Dosanjh’s planned November 27 concert at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Police were investigating the message’s authenticity and origin; a search of the Mumbai mayor’s office, also named in the email, found nothing suspicious.
