Alexander Volkanovski will defend his UFC featherweight championship against unbeaten No. 1 contender Movsar Evloev in the UFC 333 main event at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Volkanovski, 38, enters with a 28-4 record and is making his 12th consecutive title-fight appearance. The Australian began his second reign as champion by defeating Diego Lopes for the vacant belt in April 2025, then won their February rematch by unanimous decision. A victory over Evloev would give Volkanovski nine featherweight title-fight wins, surpassing Jose Aldo’s divisional record.
Evloev, 32, is 20-0 in professional MMA and earned his title opportunity by defeating Lerone Murphy in March. The matchup is expected to pit Volkanovski’s striking against Evloev’s wrestling, although both fighters said they are prepared to compete wherever the bout goes. Volkanovski said he intends to keep the fight standing if necessary, while Evloev said he can win either through striking or grappling.
In the co-main event, bantamweight champion Petr Yan will defend his title against Merab Dvalishvili in their third meeting. Dvalishvili won their first fight by decision, while Yan took the championship from him last December.
The main card also includes Lone’er Kavanagh against Ramazan Temirov at flyweight, Alexander Volkov against Rizvan Kuniev at heavyweight, and short-notice replacement Losene Keita against Aaron Pico at featherweight.
