The Pokémon Company plans to open a permanent retail store in London by 2029, the first in a broader series of new locations planned outside Asia.
The London store will sell exclusive merchandise and offer visitors an experience designed around the Pokémon brand. The company has previously operated temporary shops in London, including a pop-up at the Natural History Museum and stores connected to editions of the Pokémon European International Championships.
“We are always exploring new opportunities that help us create unique and memorable experiences for our fans,” Gaku Susai, chief product and experience officer at The Pokémon Company International, said in a statement quoted by Engadget. Susai said the London location would welcome both newcomers and longtime fans.
Details about the store’s precise location and opening date have not been announced. The Pokémon Company said information about additional permanent locations outside Asia will be released later.
The company previously opened Pokémon Center New York in 2001. That location was converted into Nintendo’s flagship store four years later.
