Zelenskyy joins Oslo peace talks before US envoy’s planned Moscow visit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joined US and European officials in Oslo on Tuesday for talks aimed at developing proposals to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, ahead of US special envoy Steve Witkoff’s planned visit to Moscow.
The meeting included Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and representatives from Britain, France, Germany and Poland, as well as the EU and NATO. Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, was expected to participate remotely. Støre said Ukraine had requested the involvement of the US envoys and that the talks were intended to put diplomatic efforts on a more constructive path.
Witkoff is expected to travel from Norway to Russia for talks with President Vladimir Putin and present ideas developed with Ukraine and European partners. The Moscow discussions are also expected to include efforts to secure the release of Stephen Hubbard, a 74-year-old American imprisoned in Russia.
The diplomatic push comes amid discussion of a possible meeting among Trump, Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Zelenskyy said the three leaders had the right to meet, but insisted that Ukraine must participate in any negotiations concerning the country and its future.
“Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said after the Oslo meeting, which he described as constructive. He added that he had spoken earlier with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and was awaiting the outcome of Witkoff’s Moscow visit.
