Anthropic filed publicly for an initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, October 26, opening its finances and risk disclosures to investors ahead of a possible November listing.
The Claude developer reported $16.3 billion in revenue for the first six months of 2026, up from $1.16 billion in the same period a year earlier, according to its prospectus. It said more than 11,900 customers generated at least $100,000 each during the 12 months ending in September, while more than 1,900 generated at least $1 million each.
Anthropic recorded a net loss of $80.7 billion, including a $72.4 billion accounting charge related to financial instruments convertible into shares. Its operating loss narrowed to $693 million from $2.14 billion in the first half of 2025, with computing power remaining its largest expense.
The filing devotes extensive space to risks surrounding AI development, security, regulation and competition. Anthropic said it delayed training a powerful model because of security concerns and warned that advanced AI could pose catastrophic or existential risks. It also cited political and regulatory uncertainty, open-weight competitors, U.S.-China tensions and potential disruption involving Taiwan.
The company outlined plans for more than $500 billion in AI infrastructure investment over 20 years. Its founders are expected to retain voting control after the offering.
