Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned the United States and Israel against renewed attacks as leaders in both countries raised the possibility of further military action against Tehran.
At a meeting with senior military commanders, Khamenei ordered that any threat be met with an “immediate, impactful and geographically unrestricted response,” according to a statement cited by The Punch. He also directed commanders to update Iran’s target list to include American and Israeli assets.
US President Donald Trump said Washington had destroyed much of Iran’s military but still needed to address one or two targets, including a suspected nuclear site known as Pickaxe Mountain, The Japan Times reported. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump had not decided whether to authorize fresh strikes.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, meanwhile, warned before Israel’s election that intelligence indicated Iran and its allies might attempt attacks intended to disrupt voting. He said Israel was prepared for defensive and offensive operations and threatened “disproportionate blows” in response.
Mohammed Mokhber, an adviser to Khamenei, characterized the warnings from Trump and Netanyahu as psychological warfare reflecting “desperation” rather than strength. In a social media post reported by Middle East Eye, Mokhber said Iran could use battlefield surprises and its leverage in oil and energy markets to shift the balance of power.
