Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made their first joint public appearance since returning to live in the United Kingdom, visiting Nottingham on Thursday.
The couple were greeted by cheering crowds as they arrived at the Community Recording Studio, where they posed for photographs, hugged well-wishers and accepted flowers. Meghan told members of the crowd, “It’s great to be back.” They were scheduled to visit three Nottingham charities supporting young people and local communities through music, film, sport and efforts to address food poverty.
The Nottingham visit echoed the couple’s first joint engagement after announcing their engagement in 2017, which also took place in the city.
Harry and Meghan moved back to Britain with their children in August after living in California. They stepped down from duties as working members of the royal family in 2020. A letter issued by the Lord Chamberlain last month reiterated that they no longer undertake representative duties for the sovereign and said their position would continue to be treated as distinct from the state and royal duties performed by working members of the royal family.
