Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped without gunshot wounds after gunmen opened fire on his car in Mumbai on Sunday evening, police said. Two other people, including Shroff’s driver, were injured.
The attack occurred in the Juhu area as the 36-year-old actor was leaving after playing football or attending a private event. Videos published by news outlets appear to show at least two gunmen firing several shots at close range toward the front passenger side of the slowly moving vehicle. Some reports said the attackers arrived on a motorcycle.
Police detained three suspects in Kota, Rajasthan, on Monday. The Indian Express identified them as two adults and a minor and reported that they had planned to travel through Delhi before escaping to Nepal. Mumbai police have deployed multiple teams to investigate the attack, including reviewing surveillance footage and tracing the assailants’ movements.
A social media post and a purported audio message have claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police said they were examining the messages but had not verified their authenticity, established a connection to the gang or determined a motive.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff after the shooting and said the actor and his mother had been left shaken. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a thorough investigation.
