Mumbai police said three men were arrested Monday after shots were fired at actor Tiger Shroff’s vehicle in the Juhu area on Sunday evening, injuring his driver and a bystander. Shroff was not struck and remained safe.
Police said five rounds were fired at about 7 p.m. as Shroff was leaving a football ground near Pushpa Narsee Park. His driver sustained a bullet injury to his hand, while the bystander was also wounded; both were taken to hospital. A case was registered against three initially unidentified men, and 15 police teams were formed to track them.
The suspects—identified by The Indian Express as Phool Singh, 18, Hrithik Mahto, 22, and Rehan Rahisuddin, 18—were arrested aboard the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express at Kota Junction in Rajasthan. Investigators said CCTV footage helped trace their route after they fled the scene on a motorcycle, travelled from Andheri to Borivali, continued by cab to Surat and then boarded the train. Police said they planned to travel onward to Delhi and Nepal.
A purported online audio message from a man claiming membership in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang said the group was responsible and linked the shooting to Shroff’s work with actor Salman Khan. Police have not verified or publicly endorsed that claim.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered an investigation, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said several teams had been assigned to the case and that threats against other film personalities would be assessed.
